F# Japanese Scale Fretboard Guide
The F# Japanese scale runs F#, G#, B, C# and D. It is a five-note scale with no third, and the half step from C# to D is its signature.
Put the root on the 2nd fret of the low E string, then try the 9th fret of the A string. The shape is the same as in any other key, just slid along the neck.

Structure
F# japanese scale notes:
How the japanese scale is built:
The japanese scale is built from the degrees 1 2 4 5 b6, which gives the step pattern W-W+H-W-H-WW (W = whole step, H = half step).
Counting in semitones from the root: 0, 2, 5, 7, 8. That makes it a 5-note scale.
