F# Augmented Scale for Guitar
F# augmented runs F#, A, A#, C#, C## and E#. Two of those names are awkward: E# is played as F and C## as D, but they are the pitches of the F# augmented scale you hear on the guitar.
The root is on the 2nd fret of the low E string and the 9th fret of the A string. D and Bb augmented use the same pitches with easier spelling, so keep those names in mind when reading a score.

Structure
F# augmented scale notes:
How the augmented scale is built:
The augmented scale is built from the degrees 1 b3 3 5 #5 7, which gives the step pattern W+H-H-W+H-H-W+H-H (W = whole step, H = half step).
Counting in semitones from the root: 0, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11. That makes it a 6-note scale.
